I am really a complex gal - which might sound funny to those that put me into a certain “stay-at-home-mom” box — which sadly shouldn’t even be a negative thing either.
I own the jokes sometimes, I don’t care if people think I’m a ditsy blonde, I am serving the Lord and have a beautiful family and love my husband, so who cares! :)
I enjoy so many different things - it makes me tired just to think of making a list!! A huge one is horseback riding for sure, I adore pretty much all animals though and LOVE continuously learning more about homesteading and farming. I was blessed to grow up working for a large boarding and training kennel and learned how to train service dog/therapy dogs. I also had cool parents that taught me how to grow food and cook from scratch. My dad taught me how to shoot - guns and primitive weapons. I learned how to sew and crochet and made some pretty intricate things. I took dance and music lessons almost my entire youth. I have always loved writing and pencil drawing, so when I had time I used to create short stories and illustrate them (If I kept them all they’d stack to the ceiling!). I have enjoyed modeling in several different genres even made a part time living off of it for a while. I also love being behind the camera taking the shots and editing them. Traveling is exciting to me and I’ve been able to see some pretty awesome places like a ten day trip to Ireland and a big trip out to Arizona!
I’ll admit I’m a tad ADHA and just love learning new things and exploring!! So I could go on forever!
My point is, I have figured out more and more that I really don’t miss all the things that I used to have more time for as much as I LOVE being a WIFE and MOTHER.
AND I’m so blessed that I still get to do so many of the things I enjoy as well and contrary to popular opinion - I think so much of it is even more fun with our children!
Being a stay at home mom and also working from home, a lot of people seem to think and some have actually voiced, “poor thang, you’ve got a lot on your hands having two babies so young”, or, “you can’t work so hard, you gotta ‘get away’ more and enjoy life just being YOU.”
What this comment really is meaning is more like, “Come on - experience what a more modern woman’s life can really be like AWAY from prioritizing your husband and children....”
Some have even take an almost jealous, but annoyed approach and don’t say, but give me this attitude of, “lucky you - you have it easy,” or “you don’t REALLY work since you get to be at home all the time.”
Well... for the record...
🌻I do not regret having babies young ONE BIT.
🌻Staying home with them didn’t just magically happen for me - it has been something I have to work towards and prepare for. I KNEW it was what I wanted.
🌻I have ZERO envy of what I see celebrated currently as the “successful modern woman”.
🌻It is NOT always easy doing what I do, but it’s a blessed life and it’s worth it! And I’m am incredibly thankful for the friends I have that help REMIND me how grateful I should be if ever I get stuck in a low time.
🌻I do work super hard at times and at times I’m in a particular season that needs me to slow down a bit, but I actually love working hard (physical exertion is SO crucial to my all-round health) - but even on the hardest days it is really not that bad because I get to do so much of it with two incredible little girls that make it impossible to ever be too tired to laugh or dance or sing like nobody is watching! ;)
My FULL TIME JOB is soaking up every moment I can...💓
I have gone through some rough/ugly/embarrassing seasons for sure (and that's life - there is probably more bumps to come), but I can honestly say I am usually one happy momma!
God has been good to me!
The more I find joy in fulfilling my role as a wife and mother daily in a willing and wholehearted spirit and bring God the most glory, the more He blessed me with peace of mind and happy times.☀️
Beautifully said. ♥️
